As HR Manager, you are responsible for the entire HR organisation of Trek in the Benelux. In this role, you will receive input and frameworks from the central European organisation and from the USA. However, you are given ample room for local interpretation.

The function is shifting from an operationally-oriented role to a more tactically- and strategy-oriented position, but it will remain an all-round and expressly hands-on job. Case-driven matters (absence, performance, rewards, etc.) are combined with taking on more tactical/strategic issues. Think of themes such as succession planning, recruitment, working remotely, employer branding and (increasing) employee satisfaction.

In this role, you will report to the Country Manager of the Facility Harderwijk and to the European Human Resource Director. You will provide the HR Officer (who will be based in Wijchen) with functional guidance. For now the payroll administration is done by external parties.

Themes on which the agenda will focus in the coming period include:

– positioning HR as a Business Partner with more strategic influence;
– retention policy as well as recruiting personnel;
– further optimising/professionalising HR administration/processes.

In this role, you will be travelling. You are the HR representative for Harderwijk, Wijchen and some store locations. As such, you will be present at the main locations on a weekly basis. Harderwijk will be your ‘home’ base.

Functie eisen

The client that we would like to propose to TREK is business- and service-minded. You are an all-round HR Professional or HR Business Partner and ready for the second or third step in your career. You preferably come from a technically/sales/retail-oriented organisation. Our dream candidate can marry strategic thinking with operational efficiency. You are a result-driven initiator. You know how to build a bridge between the local needs of the Benelux organisation and the framework of the parent organisation in the USA.

The ideal candidate should recognise themselves in the following profile:
– a college degree in a relevant field (e.g. HR/Business Administration);
– at least 5 years of experience in a similar commercial context;
– solid consultancy skills and an ability to communicate with all levels of the organisation;
– if you are an avid cycling fan, perfect! But if not, it’s fine too!

Fluency in English and Dutch, both written and spoken, is imperative.

Naturally, you are willing to travel internationally (occasionally).


TREK is offering a 36 to 40-hour job, you may determine the precise number of hours yourself. The salary will be between €4.000,- and €5.000,- (based on a 40-hour week), depending on your experience.
